What to Expect

If you have not been here before, this is how a visit runs from the phone call to the pick-up.

  1. You call or text

Tell me your pet's breed, roughly when they were last groomed, and anything I should know: they hate the dryer, they are deaf, they do not like their back feet touched. We pick a time that suits. Appointments are one at a time, so the slot is genuinely yours.

  2. Arrival and a look at the coat

We go through what you want before anything starts, and I check the coat's condition. If it is matted close to the skin I will say so then, not halfway through, and we will agree on what is fair to the pet before I pick anything up.

  3. The groom, start to finish

Bath, dry, and the haircut, plus nails, ears and a sanitary trim. Nobody is put back in a crate to wait for the next pair of free hands. Pets who need to stop and breathe get to stop and breathe.

  4. Pick-up

I call or text when your pet is ready. We talk through anything I noticed in the coat or the skin, and what a sensible gap is before the next visit.

Before You Come

  • Bring vaccination details

Please have your pet's vaccinations up to date, and let me know if anything has lapsed.

  • Tell me about bites or fear

A history of snapping is not a reason to be turned away. Not knowing about it is.

  • Do not bath them first

A bath at home without a proper dry sets mats tighter. Come as you are.

  • A photo helps

If you have a picture of a cut you like, bring it. It settles the question faster than any description.

Matted Coats

Where a coat is badly matted, the humane option is to clip it short rather than brush it out. Brushing out a tight mat pulls on skin for as long as it takes, and grooming a matted coat can also reveal skin problems that were hidden underneath. I will always talk to you about it before I proceed.
